GARRISON KEILLOR
The Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) of Rutherford County is a volunteer-powered network of committed people—from all walks of life—who believe society has a fundamental obligation to abused and neglected children. Our mission is to ensure that each of our children has the right to grow up in a safe, permanent, and loving home.
CASA volunteers stand up for children who have been abused or neglected, ensuring they do not get overlooked in the overwhelmed legal and social service systems. Typically, volunteers manage one case at a time, remaining committed until the case is resolved or the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many of the children we assist, their CASA volunteer becomes the one consistent adult presence in their lives.
